What to expect

You'll be picked up and driven to Shute Harbour Airport, where you'll board a four-seat Robinson R44. After a safety briefing, the helicopter departs and climbs to survey the Whitsunday archipelago. The 20-minute flight path traces the islands and surrounding reef systems while you hear interpreted commentary through voice-activated headsets. The cabin is compact; you'll sit beside the pilot or another passenger. Ground transport adds 30 minutes each way, so allow two hours total. Weight limit: 130kg per seat, 250kg combined passenger weight. Not suitable if you have spinal injuries or cardiovascular concerns. Infants sit on an adult's lap.
