What to expect
You'll board a working dive vessel and motor out into the waters around Bruny Island. Your guide will don diving gear and descend to handpick abalone and sea urchin while you watch from the boat. Once back on deck, the chef fires up the galley and begins preparing your lunch: raw urchin roe, shucked oysters, grilled lobster and pan-fried calamari. Expect to eat slowly and well, with drinks flowing. The boat operates regardless of weather, so come prepared for wind and spray. Infants must sit on an adult's lap; all fitness levels are welcome.
Good to know
Dress warmly and waterproof—you're on open water for eight hours. Book dietary requirements upfront. The boat holds twelve maximum. Public transport reaches the departure point; hotel pickups aren't included. Service animals are welcome.
