A 3.5-hour expedition across South Australia's sand dunes with a seasoned photographer guiding you to prime sunset vantage points. You'll navigate the dunes by 4WD, spotting emus and kangaroos in their natural habitat whilst capturing golden-hour light. The route combines off-road driving with wildlife watching, finishing as the sun drops below the horizon. Suited to those comfortable with vehicle-based exploration and reasonably fit.

What to expect

You'll start by boarding an air-conditioned 4WD for a drive into the dunes. The vehicle handles the rougher terrain whilst you scan for wildlife—emus are common here, as are kangaroos, especially near sunset. Your photographer guide will direct you to several vantage points, helping you frame shots as light shifts. Expect moderate jostling from the uneven ground. Once positioned, you'll have time to photograph and simply observe the landscape as colours intensify. The return journey follows as dusk settles.

Good to know

Bring a refillable water bottle (the operator provides tap water). Infants must sit on an adult's lap. Those with cardiovascular concerns should reconsider—the bumpy ride and uneven terrain require reasonable fitness. Public transport options exist nearby if you need alternative transport.
