What to expect
Your guide will kit you out with harnesses, ropes, and protection gear before covering the essentials of safe climbing and controlled descent. Expect to spend the morning building confidence on manageable pitches, then move to longer, steeper sections as you develop technique. Abseiling forms the afternoon focus—stepping backwards off a cliff edge is mentally harder than it sounds, but your guide talks you through every metre. The rock is grippy and forgiving. Morialta's setting is quiet and wild; bring water and snacks to refuel between pitches. Fitness matters less than determination and willingness to work through the mental challenge of exposure.
Good to know
Wear closed shoes and mid-thigh or longer pants. Bring at least 2 litres of water and your own snacks. Sunscreen and sunglasses are wise. Not suitable if you have spinal issues, cardiovascular concerns, or are pregnant. Arrive sober and drug-free.
