What to expect

The flight departs Cairns and heads first toward the coast, tracking Green Island where you'll spot reef patterns and the pale water around Vlasoff Sand Cay. You then turn inland, climbing steadily as the landscape shifts from tropical lowland to forested ranges. The altitude gain gives perspective on how the terrain folds—rainforest clinging to steep slopes. As you approach Kuranda, the forest thickens below. The flight then descends into Barron Gorge, where the waterfall dominates the narrow valley. The return to base takes in wider aerial vistas of the surrounding plateau and coastal hinterland.
