What to expect
The flight kicks off from Essendon, climbing over Melbourne's skyline before banking southwest toward the coast. You'll track the Great Ocean Road's cliff-lined edges, spotting surf breaks and sheltered coves that blur past below. At the 1.5-hour mark, the helicopter descends to the 12 Apostles Visitor Centre heliport. You disembark to wander the boardwalks, photograph the weathered stacks rising from the Southern Ocean, and absorb the raw coastline on your own pace. Back in the air, you'll circle the formations from above—a perspective most visitors never get—before the return leg cuts through inland farmland toward home.
Good to know
Bring a camera and neck pillow. Window seats are guaranteed but pack layers; altitude and sea wind make it cool. Lunch isn't provided, so grab something before departure or pack snacks. All fitness levels welcome. Public transport accesses the airport.
