About this tour

Hike K'gari's wilderness over two days without lugging a heavy pack. You walk with just a small day pack whilst the support team ferries your gear ahead, establishes camp, and prepares meals. A 4WD transfer gets you to the trailhead from Hervey Bay, and you'll sleep under canvas in the island's remote interior, spotting dingoes and coastal heathland. Suits hikers after adventure without the logistical grind.

What to expect

You'll start at 8am from Hervey Bay, board a barge to K'gari (Fraser Island), then drive to your trailhead. Each day involves moderate hiking on established tracks with views of the island's interior. The support crew works in parallel—they transport your tent, sleeping kit, and provisions by 4WD to your next camp spot, set everything up, and have dinner waiting when you arrive. Nights are bush camping with drop toilets and no electricity. The experience trades creature comforts for genuine solitude; this isn't glamping, but it's far less demanding than traditional multi-day hiking. Track conditions depend on rainfall; the hike runs March to October only for safety.

Good to know

Bring proper hiking boots, a torch, and a USB power bank—no charging available. Minimum moderate fitness required; not suitable for spinal injuries, pregnancy, or poor cardiovascular health. Children must be 12+. Groups need four people minimum. Dietary requirements must be noted at booking. Tracks can close with little notice due to fire risk; you'll receive a full refund or alternative tour if this happens.
