Depart your hotel at 8 AM for Hartley Crocodile Adventures, where you'll boat past feeding crocs and wander amongst koalas and kangaroos. Mid-morning, ascend the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway with two forest floor stops, then explore Kuranda village's markets and cafés. Afternoon brings the Kuranda Scenic Railway back through the rainforest, finishing with sunset drinks at Palm Cove before returning to Port Douglas.

What to expect

You'll start early with hotel pickup in a small group (20 maximum) heading south to Hartley's. The crocodile park gives you a boat experience followed by self-guided time among the enclosures. Around 11:35 AM, transfer to the Skyrail base station. The cableway ride spans rainforest canopy; you'll step out at two stations to walk ground-level forest trails before continuing uphill to Kuranda. Lunch and browsing take until mid-afternoon—the village is compact but busy with tourists. The train journey back down is scenic rather than thrilling, winding through jungle and across bridges. You'll finish at Palm Cove around 5 PM with an hour to relax beachside before heading home.

Lunch in Kuranda costs extra and options range from casual to upmarket. Kuranda's wildlife attractions (koala gardens, butterfly sanctuary, bird world) involve separate entry fees if you want them. Wear comfortable shoes for walking the rainforest sections and bring sunscreen. Wheelchairs and walkers fold up; an extra step assists bus boarding.
