About this tour
Traverse the ancient Flinders Ranges on this three-day 4WD adventure through South Australia's rugged interior. Based from Adelaide, you'll explore Wilpena Pound's dramatic amphitheatre of stone, hunt for yellow-footed rock wallabies amongst spinifex-dotted ranges, and visit Aboriginal rock art shelters with a local guide. Campfire meals, wine tasting in nearby Clare Valley, and nights under big skies combine wilderness immersion with cultural grounding. Small groups keep the experience intimate and leave minimal footprint.

What to expect
Days begin early to maximise wildlife spotting when animals are active. Expect a mix of 4WD travel on unsealed tracks, moderate-pace walking (2–4 hours daily), and downtime at camp. Accommodation is basic but comfortable; you'll sleep two nights in the ranges. Meals are communal affairs—breakfast and lunch included, dinners cooked collectively near a fire. Your guide provides running commentary on geology, ecology and Aboriginal heritage. Weather can shift quickly; bring layers. The vehicle is air-conditioned, but time outside exposes you to heat, dust and insects. Most days involve sitting still for stretches, then getting out to walk or observe.
