About this tour
This 6.5-hour reef adventure departs Cairns for the Frankland Islands, where you'll land on Normanby Island—accessible only through this operator. Split your day between a leisurely river cruise along the Mulgrave, snorkelling or semi-submersible exploration of coral gardens, and beach time on an island home to green and hawksbill turtles. Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards are yours to use; snorkelling gear, afternoon snacks and transfers from select Cairns spots are included.

- 200+ coral species across two reef sites
- 30-minute Mulgrave River cruise, calm waters
- Choice of guided snorkel or semi-sub tour
- Free kayaks and SUP boards for the day
- Spot rare sand stars and endangered turtles
- All-inclusive snorkelling equipment provided
What to expect
You'll board a spacious catamaran early morning and cruise to the islands. The day splits between structured activities and free time: opt for either a guided beach-to-reef snorkel (where a staff member leads you into shallow coral gardens) or a semi-submersible vessel tour if you'd rather stay dry. In between, paddle a kayak or SUP around calmer waters, walk the sandy island to spot wildlife, or simply rest. The Mulgrave River leg is the gentlest part—a narrated drift through mangroves and birdlife. Afternoon snacks arrive mid-afternoon; bring your own lunch or pre-order a box.
Good to know
Stinger suits are mandatory during stinger season and provided free. No paved paths on the island—prams must be carried. You'll need to complete a safety acknowledgement before entering water. Bus transfers from Cairns may fill; arrange alternative transport to Deeral if needed. Watch for fuel surcharges emailed before travel. Dietary requests must be noted at booking.
