A four-day loop from Hobart that tracks Tasmania's wildest corners on foot and by vehicle. What to expect

This is proper bushwalking, not strolling. Expect full days of hiking in variable weather—Tasmania's alpine regions and rainforests demand decent boots and layers. You'll be up early spotting animals (dawn is prime time for platypuses and wombats), then out on marked trails where the gradients are real. Nights are spent in simple but comfortable lodges and cabins; facilities are solid, but you're genuinely remote. One dinner and one breakfast are included; plan meals around small towns. Wildlife sightings aren't guaranteed—you're observing animals in their own space—but the guide knows where to look and when.

Good to know

Moderate fitness is essential—some hikes run 4–6 hours with elevation gain. Weather changes rapidly; bring waterproof gear. Mobile reception is patchy inland. All park entry and the Cradle Mountain shuttle are covered. Most meals are your responsibility; stock up in Hobart or larger towns.
