What to expect

Expect a physically demanding two days. The guided walks require moderate-to-advanced fitness; you'll cover roughly 5km on foot across rocky, uneven terrain in an arid climate. Nights are spent camping in the outback—either in permanent safari tents with beds and privacy, or traditional swags (bedrolls under canvas). Meals are communal; the group helps prep dinner, cook breakfast, and clean up, which doubles as a way to bond with fellow travellers. Your guide provides cultural and geological context throughout. Temperatures swing dramatically between day and night, so pack layers. Limited vehicle storage means you'll travel light.

Good to know

Hire a sleeping bag onboard for $40 AUD if needed. Notify the operator of medical conditions, dietary requirements, and any fitness concerns at booking—a doctor's certificate is required for travellers over 75. Children aged 8–17 need adult supervision; under 8s aren't suitable. Not recommended for pregnant travellers or those with spinal injuries. Travel insurance is strongly advised given the remote location.
