What to expect
You'll board a boat in the Whitsundays and cruise 40 nautical miles to Hardy Reef, where the pontoon becomes your home for the night. Days are spent active: snorkelling around the pontoon, climbing aboard the semi-sub to glide through underwater passages, and descending into the viewing chamber to watch reef life without getting wet. Meals happen on deck with ocean views. As light fades, you'll settle into your bunk-style bed on the open upper deck, lulled by water and star field. The pontoon operates year-round—beds have weatherproof covers and can close if rain arrives. Moderate fitness helps; you'll navigate stairs and move across the pontoon regularly.
Good to know
Bring only a small bag with swimwear, sunscreen, towel, light layer, and valuables. Hotel pickups aren't included. Divers over 55 need a medical certificate; all divers complete a questionnaire on board. Scuba diving, helicopter flights, and cocktails cost extra. Declare dietary needs when you book.
