What to expect
Day one starts early—check-in from 7:15am at Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns, departure 8:00am. You'll motor out to the Outer Reef, where the boat holds position whilst you snorkel over two different reefs, spotting coral and fish in clear water. Tea, coffee and muffins greet you on arrival; a proper BBQ lunch with wine and cheese wraps up the afternoon before the sail home. Day two is gentler. The Skyrail cable car creeps above the rainforest canopy for 7.6 kilometres, offering views without the hiking. Once in Kuranda, you're free to explore shops, cafes and the village at your own pace. The Scenic Railway completes the loop, a slow, scenic descent back to Cairns through some genuinely impressive engineering.

Book your reef day first, then contact the operator to arrange your Skyrail/rail day. Scuba divers need medical clearance (compulsory over 65, required if you take certain medications or have specific health conditions) and cannot dive within 24 hours of flying. Dietary requirements—vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free—need 24 hours' notice.
