Best Places to Travel in Christchurch

Situated in the South along the east border, Christchurch is a place full of beautiful wildlife and places to explore. Well known for its English culture, you will find many historical places but sadly many have been damaged or destroyed in the 2011 earthquakes. We always love to support a town damaged by natural disasters so make sure to put this one on your list when you venture around New Zealand.

If you like keeping fit, hire a bike and check out the town along many bike paths and tracks along the river and around town.

If you love animals and nature, head over to Willowbank Wildlife reserve with your friends and family to see your favourite animals up close. If you get there at the right time you will also be able to see the really cool Maori cultural show.

If adrenaline is your thing you have to go and get your blood pumping at the Christchurch Adventure Park where you can ride the incredible zip line and get some really cool photos and have fun for hours. There is also a sky diving centre for those even more adventurous people who really like to push the limits. For the ones who like to be on the ground but still have extreme fun the local white water rafting company will be able to help you out and
ensure you have a fun packed day but can’t promise to keep you dry.

To keep down those holiday kilograms, there are some really amazing hiking trails to do in Christchurch and pretty much all of N.Z. The Godley Head hikes will take you on some amazing treks and also have many really cool photo spots overlooking the ocean and mountains.

A really nice thing to do is to visit the Canterbury Earthquake National Memorial to pay respects and learn about the tragic earthquakes that killed over 100 people.

One of the biggest attractions in town is to visit the International Antarctic Centre where you will get to really experience what it is like in Antarctica without freezing your bollocks off and needing to spend thousands of dollars to do it. Here you will get to see some of the cool little penguins, feel what it’s like in their -5 degrees room and ride on their Hagglund simulator to feel what they are really like. Definitely a must do for all people from singles to families.
