Perisher Valley is not just for people who are good at skiing, many of the ski slopes based around beginners and children, offering gentle sloping hills perfect for first timers, everyone, young and old can have fun in the snow.

Seven mountain peaks across four resort areas, including Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Blue Cow & Guthega make up Perisher Blue, which is Australasia’s largest ski resort with over 1245 hectares of skiable terrain serviced by 49 lifts.

From every activity imaginable that you can do in the snow, it is all possible at Perisher Blue. From cross country and back country skiing, snow shoeing tours, snowman building competitions, snowboarding, tobogganing and long ski runs. Between the months of June to October Perisher Blue comes alive with hundreds of people coming to visit that mountain and enjoy in the fun filled activities.

There is over 1,245 hectares of skiing terrain ranging from beginners, intermediate up to the more advanced. There is roughly 22% dedicated to beginners, 60% to intermediate skiers and 18% to the more advanced.

Perisher Valley provides 50 lifts that operate throughout the day and sometimes into the night, with a lift capacity of around 53,903 per hour. The first lift opens at 8.30am and closes around 5.00pm, if night skiing isn’t on. Night skiing is fast becoming a popular event with anyone that just can’t get enough skiing during the day. And on the day of Tuesday and Saturday you can enjoy skiing under the stars until 9.30pm.

Skiing is not the only pastime in Perisher Blue, snowboarding is a popular sport and the mountain holds many dips and rough terrain to test even the more advanced snow boarder. The snowtube park is perfect for snow boarders offering a half pipe and awesome terrain parks to rip up the snow.

With the longest ski run going for 3km, you can simply ski for hours until your heart in content. And even when the snow conditions haven’t been all that kind, there are specially placed snow making machines to ensure that you are always guaranteed perfect snow skiing conditions.

The little ones are never forgotten about at Perisher Blue, with the added bonus of either day care or the kids club. The Snowy Day Care is staffed by professional carers for children who are not skiing and the Junior Snow Kids, is a program that is completely supervised and caters for kids between 3 to 6 years of age. There is also the Explore Kids for children between 6 – 14 years old, and is a specialised program for ski and snowboard tuition where children are grouped by age and ability.
